Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate R&D Technician to join our team. In this vital role, you will support the research and development of cutting-edge products, conduct thorough testing to ensure proper functioning in accordance with specifications, and contribute to our validation processes. Collaborating with cross-functional teams of electrical, FPGA, optical, mechanical, embedded, and software engineers, you will support product performance, troubleshoot challenges, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in our products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Test and validate electronic, optical, and mechanical components that are part of our quantum machines with precision and care, adhering to specifications and engineering drawings.
  • Perform functional testing and troubleshooting on isolated components, assemblies, and devices.
  • Document test results and assembly processes accurately following company standards.
  • Identify and diagnose issues in prototype units and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to provide first-hand assembly processes and product performance.
  • Maintain and organize tools and equipment to ensure a safe and clean work environment.
  • Adhere to all safety and quality standards to uphold product integrity.
  • Provide valuable feedback to design teams regarding product design and quality improvements.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Associate degree in Electronics, Mechanics, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in a testing or assembly role in an electronics or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in using test equipment and tools, including experience with lab instruments such as
  • DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience with manual board prototyping/refurbishing using essential equipment like soldering irons and hot air guns for electronics soldering, and board reworking.
  • Experience working with SMD components with small dimensions and pitch.
  • Manual dexterity to perform intricate assembly and testing tasks
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of Windows Operating
  • Systems and their Device Manager. Proficient in installing software and basic debugging.
  • Able to lift weights to OSHA limit (50 lbs.) when required (occasionally).
  • Capacity to stand or sit for extended periods while performing job duties.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, open-minded, and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with automated testing equipment and techniques.

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (EE or ECE).
  • Knowledge of basic electronics, semiconductor discrete components, and their working principles.
  • Experience working with optoelectronics is a big plus.
  • Knowledge of IPC 610A and/or IPC 6012.
  • Experience with Linux OS
  • Experience coding (C, Python, etc.)
