Job Title: Chemistry Analyst

Location: Thompson Station, TN- 37179

Pay Rate: $26.00/hour

Duration: 6 Months

Shift: Tuesday - Saturday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Position Summary

We are seeking a Chemistry Analyst to join the Regional Analytical Laboratory team. This role will perform chemical and physical analyses in support of scientific research, nutritional testing, product development, and quality testing. The Chemistry Analyst will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely analytical results while following documented laboratory methods, safety requirements, and quality management systems.

The position will support testing of raw ingredients, pre-mixes, pre-blends, developmental products, mixer studies, and finished products. The role reports directly to the Regional Laboratory Manager and will work with specialized analytical laboratory instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine chemical and physical analyses accurately and in a timely manner.
• Plan, design, and conduct laboratory experiments to evaluate chemical specifications of substances, materials, and products.
• Collect, prepare, test, and analyze laboratory samples while accurately recording observations and results.
• Perform sample preparation, clean-up, separation, and analytical assays.
• Conduct nutritional testing for pre-mixes, pre-blends, mixer studies, raw ingredients, developmental products, and finished products.
• Operate, manage, and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on laboratory equipment.
• Handle and work safely with high-risk chemical ingredients (HRCI) in accordance with laboratory safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate analytical documentation in ELN (Electronic Laboratory Notebook) and/or LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
• Follow documented analytical methods and laboratory procedures.
• Follow ISO 17025 requirements and the applicable Global Laboratory Quality Management System.
• Monitor regional laboratory needs and support testing requirements as needed.
• Estimate resources and time required for laboratory experiments and monitor work to meet established targets.
• Prepare detailed reports documenting analytical findings, conclusions, recommendations, and applications.
• Apply technical knowledge and expertise to specialized analytical instrumentation.
• Assist with creating laboratory documents and procedures when appropriate.
• Ensure analytical results are accurate, reliable, and delivered within required timelines.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Natural Sciences, Food Science, Pharmaceutical Science, or a related field with an emphasis in Analytical Chemistry.
• 2+ years of experience performing chemical and physical analyses in the food industry or a related industry.
• Advanced education may partially substitute for the required experience.
• Strong understanding of laboratory testing, sample preparation, analytical methods, and documentation.
• Ability to accurately follow established laboratory procedures and documented methods.
• Ability to operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to laboratory safety and quality.
• Experience with ELN and/or LIMS is preferred.
